Praying for Paws is a non-profit dog rescue group that is dedicated to helping homeless dogs in the Henry County, Georgia area. We focus on larger dogs but have a large variety of breeds, such as German Shepherds, Border Collies, Beagles, terriers, hounds, and many beautiful Labrador Retrievers. Our biggest needs are adoptions, foster homes, volunteers, and donations.

Featured Dogs

Gypsy came from Henry County Animal Control. She is still a young dog, between one and two years old, and she appears to be a purebred yellow Labrador Retriever. Poor Gypsy came to us after apparently having a litter of puppies. She was very thin and needed some TLC. She has been spayed, vaccinated and is now on the road to recovery. While she still needs to put on a few pounds, she is getting healthier every day. She is even prettier in person, with a personality to match. Gypsy is also attending the obedience classes at The Paw Pad, where she is learning basic commands and leash training.. This sweet girl will make a great family pet.

My name is Bailey. I'm sitting pretty for the nice photographer so that you can see my photos. I'm a very small and lovely Yellow Lab mix with a pinch of Shiba Inu and a dose of high energy looking for lots of love and attention. I don't consider myself a diva, but I am VERY sweet and pretty!! I'm looking forward to long evening walks, strolling on the beach, running and playing with you, and just hanging out. I am highly adoptable, so what are you waiting for?

Praying for Paws, Inc. was organized in 2005 for the purpose of improving the lives of Companion animals in Henry County, Georgia. This organization seeks to accomplish this goal by implementing the following programs:
- Rescue, provide veterinarian care and find qualified homes for homeless companion animals.
- Support Henry County Animal Shelter; Assist by providing funds for programs needed to reduce the euthanasia rate and move toward a low kill animal shelter, especially helping them develop a low cost spay and neutering program in Henry County. Provide volunteers to assist in animal care and socialization.
- Provide information to the public regarding the correct care of animals, and how to deal with behavior problems that cause people to give up their animals.
- When our Military are deployed, provide assistance to their families by offering care, shelter and temporary or permanent homes to their pets.
- Accomplish the above goals by fundraising, seeking donations and grants from individuals and corporations, and by conducting local yard sales, bake sales and walk a thons.
The animals we rescue come from our community (owners surrender their dogs) and from our local animal shelter where they try not to euthanize animals that are highly adoptable. Pictures of dogs for adoption can be seen on Petfinder.com, and a few of the dogs are featured at right. While the Labrador Retriever has been the breed we rescue most often (as there seems to be a very large overpopulation of this breed), we do rescue other breeds and mixes. Currently we have Labs, Beagles, Border Collie mix, St Bernard, Pomeranian, Yorkshire Terrier, Cairn Terrier mix, Poodle, Golden Retriever mix and others. We have a diversity of large and small dogs. All dogs can be seen by appointment any day of the week. Adoption fees are approximately $200.00 but may vary due to individual medical costs per dog.

Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog to sleep in comfort,
please donate a Kuranda dog bed.
